6th Grade Classwork

I will be posting the classwork here as well as on Google classroom every day until we go back to the classroom.

Monday 3/16

Journal-Write about what you plan on doing today.

Benchmark-start work on Week 3 vocabulary, Read & annotate intro & paragraphs 1-10 in "Midwinter Day"', write brief summary of what you read; Grammar-complete grammar WS

Math-23-2 p.293-296. Read/work through lesson answering each question carefully and completely. Do CYU on p.296. Do practice problems on p.296 on binder paper.

History-Read Ch. 9, section 1 p.254-259. Take notes-summarize keys ideas of this section. Complete section 1 of the history packet.

Writing - Read through documents for Mesopotamia in DBQ packet. Carefully answer questions in the packet. Think about other ideas you have learned about Mesopotamia that you could include in your essay for Mesopotamia. 

Read Shooting Kabul for 30 minutes. Write a brief summary of what you have read.

PE- Do at least 20 minutes of playing or exercise each day.

 

Tuesday 3/17

Journal - Write about what you plan on doing today.

Benchmark-continue working on Week 3 vocabulary, Read and annotate paragraphs 11-18 in "Midwinter Day", write brief summary of what you read; Spelling-complete spelling worksheet

Math-check answers from yesterday (See Google classroom) 23-3 p.297-300. Read/work through lesson answering each question carefully and completely. Do CYU on p.300. Do practice problems on p.300 on binder paper.

History-Read Ch.9, section 2 p.262-267. Take notes-summarize key ideas of this section. Complete section 2 of the history packet.

Writing - Read through documents for Egypt in DBQ packet. Carefully answer questions in the packet. Tink about other ideas you have learned about Egypt that you could include in your essay for Egypt.

Read Shooting Kabul for 30 minutes. Write a brief summary of what you have read.

Computer Lab- Don't forget to work on you Scratch project for Mr. Orr.

PE - See slides from Mr. Driscoll on Google Classroom for computer lab. Do at least 20 minutes of playing or exercise every day.

 

Wednesday 3/18

Journal: Free write-any topic of your choice.

Benchmark: Continue working on your Reading Notebook.  Reread “Midwinter Day”. Use the Fantasy Web to determine examples of each feature on the hart from the selection. Complete the Spelling sentence worksheet.

Math: Check work from yesterday. Do questions 1-10 on page 301.

Science: Reread your Stemscopedia packet on Reproduction in Plants and Animals-take notes and summarize the packet.

Writing: Read through documents for China in DBQ packet. Carefully answer questions in the packet. Think about other ideas you have learned about China that you could include in your essay for China.

Computer Lab: Work on Scratch project.

PE-Do at least 20 minutes of exercise, play, etc.

Thursday 3/19

Write in journal-free write.
Benchmark: Short essay-see attached. (Due 3/20) Check on Google Classroom for directions.
Math: Check work from yesterday. Do questions 11-26 on page 302.
Science: Do math connections worksheet for Reproduction in Plants and Animals.
Writing: Read through docs for India in DBQ packet and carefully answer questions. Think about other ideas you have learned about China that you could include in your essay paragraph about India.
Computer Lab/PE/Science Lab: See Mr. Orr's directions in Google Classroom for computer lab.

Friday 3/20

Journal: Free write
Read Shooting Kabul for 30 minutes. Summarize what you read.
Benchmark: Continue working on short essay from yesterday. Share on google doc when finished.
Math: check work from yesterday. No other math today. Answers for problems 11-15: 11. 21 in. sq.; 12. 234 m sq.; 13. 116 cm.sq; 14. 19 m; 15 225 in sq.
History: Read chapter 9, section 3 p.268-275. Take notes-summarize key ideas of this section. Complete section 3 of the history packet.
Writing: Review you answer to the focus question at the end of your DBQ. Look at the prompt for the DBQ essay: Discuss and describe two contributions from each of the River Valley Civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, and India that influenced future civilizations. Start working on your introduction. Refer to the direction sheet for the DBQ essay.
