First Grade: Room 208

Welcome to first grade!

I am so excited to be back for another year of learning with the wonderful community at Forest Park!

First grade is a year of growth and major development for our students. We will be learning many exciting things this year, and I am looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Fremont Unified has adopted a new Language Arts curriculum called "Benchmark Advance," which will be rolled out this year. This is a wonderful curriculum that provides many wonderful resources to our students and to our parents. If you have questions, please set up a time for a conference, and I will be happy to sit down and discuss the curriculum with you.

If you are interested in volunteering this year, please email me with days of the week that you are available. We will need volunteers in the Computer Lab each week, and I will need at least one Friday Folder volunteer as well. If you are not available to volunteer in the classroom but would still like to help, please let me know, as there are many projects that can be sent home.

If you would like to get in touch with me, the best way to reach me is via email at jjthomas@fremont.k12.ca.us (please note that there are 2 "j's" in my email address). I check email prior to the start of school, at lunch , and after the school day has ended. You can also leave me a message by calling Forest Park at (510) 713-0141. Please understand that I will not be able to respond during instructional hours, as I am providing instruction, but I will get back to you as soon as I am available.

Some reminders:

-Each day of the first week of school is a minimum day (Weds.-Fri.). Please make every effort to pick up your child promptly at 1:30pm.

-Please send a healthy snack with your child that does not contain nuts.

-Please send a full set of emergency clothing with your child each day in his/her backpack. Accidents on the playground and in the cafeteria can cause a child to need a new set of clothes, and it is helpful if they have their emergency clothing available at school. This way, they do not have to be sent home.

Please check back for updates on websites and classroom happenings. It's going to be a great year!

 -Mrs. Thomas
